QL operates in close proximity to local communities. Community wellbeing influences operating relationships and the social acceptance of our business activities. Limited engagement may lead to misunderstandings or operational challenges. Positive community relations are important to stable business operations.
At QL, community stewardship is driven by our “Value for All” philosophy. Guided by our Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy Framework, we deliver flagship programmes that combined short-term initiatives with long-term engagements, strategically aligned with our Group’s business objectives and integrated across our diverse business pillars. We promote employee volunteerism through our community programmes, enabling employees to participate meaningfully in initiatives that support local communities. Our focus remains on creating lasting, measurable impact, strengthening communities while fostering inclusive growth and responsible business practices.
The COBE expects our suppliers and business associates to uphold the commitment to human rights principles and fair labour practices throughout its business activities, in accordance with internationally recognised standards and applicable labour laws. This includes compliance with laws, confidentiality & data protection, safety & quality of products and services, cybersecurity, anti-corruption, child labour, forced labour, working hours and overtime, non-discrimination and equal opportunity, freedom of association and collective bargaining.
Building on our commitment to responsible supply chain management, we continued the implementation of the supplier social accountability self-assessment.
Alongside our broader sustainable procurement practices, local sourcing remains a core element of QL’s supply chain strategy, contributing to operational efficiency and positive economic value creation. Where feasible and appropriate, QL prioritises the use of local suppliers and materials to reinforce domestic economic activity while minimising our operational footprint.
As part of our commitment to supporting local economic development, the company tracks the proportion of procurement expenditure directed to local suppliers. For reporting purposes, local procurement refers to the purchase of goods, services, or works from suppliers that transact in Ringgit Malaysia.
In FY2026, more than 50% of QL’s total procurement spend was channelled to local suppliers. However, due to limited domestic availability of certain raw materials, particularly key inputs for animal feed, our ILF operations continue to rely on international sourcing to meet production requirements and ensure supply chain reliability.
