Position Title: Data Engineer
Snapshot of the role:
The Group IT is driving digital transformation for the entire group by initiating new technology and application solutions to assist businesses in process transformation.
As part of the Data Management team the Data Engineer is responsible to design. build and maintain the data infrastructure to support QL Group business.
You are driven to:
- Design and develop ETL (extract, transform, load) processes to move data from various sources to the organization’s data warehouses or data lakes.
- Select and configure the appropriate data storage technologies such as databases, data warehouses, or cloud-based storage solutions.
- Responsible for ensuring that the data being used for analysis is accurate, complete, and consistent.
- Manage and scale data processing systems, implement monitoring and alerting systems, and ensure the security and privacy of data.
- Work closely with data scientists and analysts to understand their requirements and help them access and analyze the data they need.
- Design data schemas, define data structures, and create data models that enable effective data analysis.
- Write code to automate data processing tasks, create and maintain data processing pipelines, and integrate data from various sources.
- Identify the root cause of data issues and fix it.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging data technologies and evaluate them to determine their potential value to the organization
What you’ll need to succeed: : (job requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience working as a data engineer with minimum 5 years or similar role.
- Experience with data storage technologies such as databases, data warehouses, or cloud-based storage solutions.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and SQL.
- Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a team.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Able to work under minimal supervision.
- Applicants must be willing to work in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.
